Melbourne’s Local Favourites is built on Leader readers telling about their favourite restaurant, nightspot, real estate agent, tradie or any other local business across a range of categories. Thousands of readers voted in-paper and online to choose their favourite businesses city-wide.

Launched last year and sponsored in 2010 by Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI), Small Business Victoria and Mix 101.1, Melbourne’s Local Favourites is about identifying the local businesses that offer the best service, products, atmosphere and commitment.

Readers who vote for their favourite local business went into the draw to win one of 33 $500 Westfield gift cards.

Voting was open until August 31, with winners announced on September 25th.

The categories are: Fresh Food; Caf; Fashion & Accessories Retailer; Motor Services; Health & Fitness Centre; Hotel/Pub; Cultural/Community Organisation; Bar/Nightclub; Arts/Entertainment Venue; Hair & Beauty Salon; Florist Event/Landmark; Shopping Centre/Retail Strip; Restaurant; Real Estate Agencies and Trades & Services
